"It adds other elements to the dance, such as sound design. The shoes are wired with microphones, so for a large part of the show the sounds from the shoes are fed through the sound desk and through some live software, which manipulates the sounds and create layers of sound. I think the whole area of how we hear percussive dance has been really ripe for me to go into it and is something that I have been looking at for the last five or six years and it’s a very big part of the aesthetic in the show."
